Alexandra M. Overby is a veteran teacher of 20 years in the public school systems in Arizona and Colorado and has taught a range of students from pre-K to adults. Currently, she works in the Denver Public Schools as a instructional coach and visual art educator and is the editor of Collage magazine for the Colorado Art Educator Association. She has a National Board Certification in Secondary Visual Art.
She was also an Assistant Professor of Art Education at Alabama A&M University and an instructor at Arizona State University. She has presented at the National Art Education Association, the International Visual Sociology Association, the Society for Photographic Educators, the Arizona Art Education Association, Arizona State University, and Florida State University.
Dr. Overby has done research in photography practice and curriculum, visual ethnography, new technology in art education, pre-service art teachers, and secondary curriculum issues.
